1) Write a one-sentence answer to the initial questions in the factsheet: 

Do fashion magazines contribute to the occurrence of eating disorders?
The media and fashion magazines have an impact on the consumers in a way that the consumers start to feel that they should have the "body" that is shown on media and in fashion magazines. It urges them to instantly lose weight with eating less food. This would then lead to increase in eating disorders for people.

Do games make people behave violently? 
This is mostly the case because it does influence little kids and people in general to behave in a different way depending on the game they mostly play. Games like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto have very explicit contents that is played by many youths which has a negative impact on the way they start to perceive the society. It changes the way they think and they will start to have a violent mind too from having consuming so much violence in a game. A case for James bulger's death could support this idea that it does make people behave violently because the two young killers did consume violent films and games which changed their behavior. 

Does advertising work? 
Advertising is very vital to many companies that want to promote a certain product or themselves in general. It does work in the sense that many products are popular through advertising. But also, it depends what media platforms they use to advertise their advertisement. 
Does social media generate misogyny? 
Social media does generate misogyny as anyone on social media are able to share videos and images to their friends or to a wider audience for them to see.

2) Having read the two sides to the discussion, what is your opinion on the effects debate
In my perspective, I think media has a huge part to play in the sense that it influences and effects the consumers negatively. 

3) Summarise the two sides of the example issues and debates on page 2 of the factsheet:
  • News on the Twitter
 Twitter consists of many News reports which the huge audience of Twitter can comment on or retweet which raises awareness of the news. 
  •  Social Media - Negative effects 
The digital media has certainly got a huge part to play for the occurrence of many negative things currently in this world such as Racism, sexism and etc. It certainly influences many people due to the audiences having power to access many things. 

4) What is your opinion on the growth of transgender issues in media debates?

Due to media, we are able to consume many educating videos on YouTube and other platforms of Transgenders which convinces us as a society to accept transgenders. Media sometimes has a positive effect on the consumers in the sense that it increases the consumer's knowledge.

Media products: Tangerine (award winning movie shot entirely on iPhone), news coverage of London Bridge attacks - citizen journalism.

Does the language used in tabloid and broadsheet news media shape the meaning of news stories differently?

Genre
After 100 years, is it possible for horror films to generate fear? Currently, many horror films are watched by consumers for thrills and entertainment but I do believe after 100 years time in the future, that horror films can generate fear due to improvement of technologies such as 3D glasses which are created to make it realistic.

How real is ‘reality TV’? It sometimes depends on what show it is and what it is about. With some shows, they are staged and some shows aren't. Stagings take place in reality TV shows to make things more dramatic and entertaining for the consumers.

Do marginalised groups have the power to self-represent? In the modern day, the transgenders are able to stand up for themselves and for their rights

Are mainstream media representations of marginalised groups reinforcing or challenging traditional stereotypes? Transgenders are often represented as attention seekers which reinforces traditional stereotypes.

What gratifications does interaction provide for an audience? Interaction provides diversion (Blumer and Katz 1974) which is escapism from the real life of theirs.

What relationships do audiences have with media institutions? The audiences have a deep relationships with media institutions in the sense that the audiences provide reviews which the media institutions become aware of.

Institution
What are institutions doing to offset ‘the culture of free’? With YouTube, some contents are restricted which offsets "the culture of free".

Do streaming and on demand services alter audience behaviors? With Netflix, they have attracted many of the TV audiences and now their behaviors have changed

Narrative
Why do some modern films and broadcast fictions use non-linear narratives? Modern films use non-linear narratives to attract more audiences because the audiences would want to consume something different and difficult to understand.

Does it matter that newspapers structure stories using narrative roles such as ‘heroes’ and ‘villains’? It does matter as it shows the significance of the characters. The consumers will understand the structure without being told.
