Summer Project: Proposal

Media text:   My chosen media text is Wonder Woman which is a action genre and a superhero movie which was distributed in 2017.  Media issue/debate:   The media debate is the representation of females in the modern world in the media and how the "WonderWoman" movie subverts the typical stereotype of females being weak and vulnerable. 1) Write a one-sentence answer to the initial questions in the factsheet:   Do fashion magazines contribute to the occurrence of eating disorders? The media and fashion magazines have an impact on the consumers in a way that the consumers start to feel that they should have the "body" that is shown on media and in fashion magazines. It urges them to instantly lose weight with eating less food. This would then lead to increase in eating disorders for people. Do games make people behave violently?  This is mostly the case because it does influence little kids and people in general to behave in a different way depending on the game they mostly play. Games like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto have very explicit contents that is played by many youths which has a negative impact on the way they start to perceive the society. To what extent does Magic Mike XXL defy the stereotypical role of men in film?  Initial discussion: can you deconstruct and offer an answer to this question?  -In the 2015 feel-good movie about male strippers which was Magic Mike XXL, the males are represented as quite feminist due to their representation within the movie to fulfill their female audiences. However, they were also represented as a stereotypical representation of men. How are men typically represented in Hollywood Cinema?  -In Hollywood Cinema, men are typically represented as more of the masculine gender rather than females. They are deemed as the powerful and the privileged gender.
